Under Project SURAKSHA, Parivartan is helping India’s auto and two-wheeler drivers assess their own road habits — free, private, and in three languages. Every check completed makes Thane’s streets a little safer.

At Parivartan Social and Education Trust, we are deeply committed to building a safer, more responsible society. Through our Road Safety Awareness Campaign, we aim to reduce traffic accidents, promote responsible driving, and foster a culture of safety on Indian roads.
Program Framework – The 4 Es of Road Safety
Our framework is currently structured around four pillars of intervention:

Target Beneficiary Groups
This initiative is designed for the following groups, all of whom play a critical role in day-to-day highway and road safety:

Survey Structure & Methodology
We deliver the initiative through an on-ground set-up near a highway, toll plaza, transport hub, or other high-footfall location convenient for drivers and roadside workers. The structured flow is as follows:
- Set-Up – volunteers and mobile vans are stationed near a highway or other location convenient for the target group.
- Registration & Survey – participants are registered and surveyed on their driving history: experience, past incidents, habits, and licence or vehicle details as applicable.
- Behavioural Questionnaire – a structured questionnaire assesses behavioural tendencies around road safety, fatigue management, and risk-taking.
- Evaluation – responses from the survey and the questionnaire are evaluated together.
- On-the-Spot Recognition – every participant meeting the criteria receives a gift and a certificate of recognition on the spot.
- Targeted Video Access – based on the evaluation, participants are given access to specific learning videos or print material addressing their improvement areas.
What Our Awareness Initiative Covers
- Road Safety Best Practices – videos addressing everyday on-road risks specific to commercial and heavy-vehicle driving, including blind-spot awareness, safe following distance, fatigue management, speed discipline, and safe night-driving, reinforcing the habits identified as improvement areas during the camp evaluation.
- Mental Health & Stress Management – psychologist-led content on managing the stress, fatigue, and emotional pressure of long hours on the road, with guidance on recognising early signs of burnout or anxiety and simple coping techniques drivers can use during a trip.
- CPR & Emergency First-Response – practical videos demonstrating cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the ABC (Airway, Breathing, Circulation) protocol, and immediate first-response steps at an accident site, so drivers can act confidently in the critical minutes before professional help arrives.

SURAKSHA Healthy Highways Indo-Nordic Conclave 2026
Location: Constitution Club of India, New Delhi
Parivartan People took part in the SURAKSHA Healthy Highways Indo-Nordic Conclave 2026, which centred on SURAKSHA Mission 1 Million: caring for every hero who keeps India moving, from commercial drivers and mining and construction workers to gig workers, migrant workers and highway communities.
Dr. Trupti Puranik of Parivartan People spoke on the panel alongside Shri Mathias Emil Bengtsson of the Denmark Embassy to India. The programme carried the Build India Foundation, Poorna Swasthya Foundation and India-Denmark marks, with Parivartan People as the road safety partner.
A SURAKSHA Mission 1 Million trophy was presented on stage during the conclave.
National Brainstorming Seminar on Road Safety Policy – 2025
Location: Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi
Parivartan was honoured to participate in this landmark event, which brought together the nation’s top policymakers, infrastructure experts, and road safety advocates.
Inaugurated by Hon. Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, the seminar focused on shaping India’s future road safety policy. Our participation underscored our commitment to preventing road fatalities through awareness, education, and policy engagement.

Agrovision India Exhibition – 2024
Location: Nagpur, Maharashtra
We actively participated in the prestigious Agrovision India event under the esteemed patronage of Mr. Nitin Gadkari. At our dedicated stall, we conducted interactive sessions, engaged with attendees, and emphasized the use of protective gear and responsible driving habits.
As part of our on-ground initiative, we distributed over 500 helmets to promote safe two-wheeler commuting and reduce the risk of severe injuries.
Road Safety Awareness Camp at Satish Pradhan Dhyansadhna College
Location: Thane, Maharashtra
Following our successful launch in Nagpur, we extended the campaign to students and youth at Satish Pradhan Dhyansadhna College.
The session focused on road responsibility, accident prevention, and the importance of youth participation in safety advocacy.
Awareness Drive at GEISMH High School & Junior College
Location: Naupada, Thane
We continued our outreach with a highly engaging session at GEISMH High School & Junior College. Through interactive discussions, students learned key safety practices and the significance of following traffic rules.
Street Play Presentations – Road Safety Through Creativity
In collaboration with talented artists from Nagpur, we introduced street Play performances as a unique awareness medium. These live presentations creatively communicated the importance of traffic discipline, leaving a lasting impression on audiences across age groups.
Health Check-up & Road Safety Program with RTO Thane – 2026
Location: Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School, Thane
On 03 April 2026, Parivartan Social and Education Trust, in collaboration with the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Thane, successfully organized a comprehensive Health Check-up and Road Safety Awareness Program at Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School, Thane.
The initiative saw participation from around 200 school bus drivers, lady attendants, and support staff, focusing on road safety awareness, physical health, and mental well-being.
The program featured insights by Dr. Trupti Puranik, Founder of the Trust, and was graced by Mrs. Hemangini Patil, RTO Thane Head & Transport Commissioner.
Technical guidance was provided by Motor Vehicle Inspector Mr. Amol Rathod. Medical sessions included CPR training by Dr. Dipali Karnik, mental health awareness by Dr. Amol Bhusare, and overall medical support by Dr. Atul Walawalkar and the Doctors Planet team.
Health screenings were conducted with support from Wavikar Eye Institute, Midtown Diagnostics, and Dr. Shriram Jadhav. The initiative aimed to strengthen the safety ecosystem around school transportation through awareness, health, and responsible practices.

Health Check-up & Road Safety Camp at Vasant Vihar High School – 2026
Location: Vasant Vihar High School & Junior College, Thane
As part of its Medical Initiatives program, Parivartan Social and Education Trust organized a comprehensive health check-up and road safety awareness camp on 11 April 2026 at Vasant Vihar High School & Junior College, Thane, for school bus drivers, attendants, and support staff—individuals who play a critical role in ensuring children’s safety.
The primary objective of the initiative was to create awareness about physical health, mental well-being, and responsible road behavior. The program was conducted in collaboration with the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Thane and Doctor’s Planet under the guidance of Dr. Atul Walawalkar, with medical support from Wavikar Eye Institute for eye check-ups, Midtown Diagnostics for blood tests, and dental examinations by Dr. Shreeram Jadhav.
The camp also included expert guidance from Dr. Deepali Karnik and mental health sessions by Dr. Hetvi Shah-Gajare, focusing on stress management among drivers. Road safety awareness was reinforced by Mr. Amol Rathod (RTO Inspector, Thane), who highlighted the impact of driver behavior on children’s safety. Emergency preparedness training formed a key component of the program, with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team led by Mr. Satish Singh conducting practical demonstrations on ABC (Airway, Breathing, Circulation) and CPR. The Thane Disaster Response Force (TDRF), led by Mr. Mohan Satpute further strengthened awareness on emergency response.
The event was graced by Hon. MP Mr. Naresh Mhaske, who appreciated the initiative and commended the efforts of Chairperson Mrs. Trupti Puranik. Also present were Mrs. Smita Sahane, Dr. Deepali Karnik, and Retd. Colonel Mr. Ramdev Singh, General Manager, Goenka & Associates Educational Trust.
The program included the presentation of a road safety awareness video and a behavior assessment questionnaire for drivers, developed under the guidance of Parivartan Training & Development Institute.
Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan – School Awareness Initiative
Since: January 2026 — 49 schools under the General Education Institute (GEI)
Launched in January 2026, the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan School Awareness Initiative has been adopted by 49 schools under the General Education Institute (GEI), where the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan Anthem is now sung as part of weekly assemblies.
Road safety awareness is embedded in school culture, reaching students through a simple, consistent and engaging format.
This grassroots approach helps build responsible and safety-conscious future road users.
A “Chance to Change” initiative inspired by the vision and guidance of Hon’ble Shri Nitin Gadkari ji, with strong support from GEI, teachers and school staff.
